Opening night at The Q Exhibition Space: ‘A Distant Shore’ by Rosalie Sherwood and Steve Tomlin.
‘In this exhibition, the artists explore place and identity and their responses to journeys and dislocation. As a traveller or migrant, their work responds to the familiar and reassuring as well as the uncomfortable and disquieting.
Using acrylic, textiles, collage and mixed media, the works explore the mystery, challenges and rewards of travel to places either known or new, whether in Australia, the Congo, England or elsewhere, and how this travel shapes and redefines our perspective and place within the world.’
